Sherine will teach a special session focused on musical interpretation and movement combinations to the classic song “Alf Leila w Leila!”
Classical Egyptian/Oriental style will be presented through combinations and technique. Choreography will be taught to the legendary composition, Alf Leila Wa Leila. Technique is based on movement vocabulary presented in the choreography, with an emphasis on ethereal movements, such as light, airy, delicate, and dreamy qualities. Basic sequences of traveling steps, and turns, will be taught. We will learn the mechanics of basic turns, progress with a variety of embellished turns, and integrate traveling footwork with isolations. Dancers will explore suspension, one of the vital qualities of movement in dance, offering to ignite the ethereal characteristic inherent to Oriental style, while maintaining the earthy quality that sustains and anchors us.
This course is geared towards beginner-intermediate levels; taught with a nurturing attention to detail, in a spirited environment!
