Zikrayat: An Evening of Tarab and Dance
Fri, March 9, 2018 8:00 pm at Alwan for the Arts
Zikrayat returns to Alwan with their signature mix of classical Egyptian and Syrian tarab, and exciting raqs sharqi tunes, drawing on rarities from the Golden Age of Egyptian musical cinema of the 1940s-1960s.
The first half of the program will feature a mix of vocal and instrumental tarab repertory, featuring the vocals of Zafer Tawil and Sami Abu Shumays. The second set will feature performances by some of the top Bellydancers in New York City.
